This pattern is for lots of items for the husband, son or brother away at war. It has a scarf, socks, mittens, gloves, fingerless gloves, two different balaclava helmets and wristlets. The balaclava helmets are so called in the UK, after the Battle of Balaclava during the Crimean War of the 1800s.
Year – 1940’s. Note that the Copley’s logo little man has a helmet on.
Sizes – one size only for all
Yarn Size – 4 ply except for the helmets are made in Copleys Speedinit, which I think is equivalent to DK or 8 ply today.
