Phew! What a lot of scanning I did yesterday. This lovely knitting pattern is a lot shorter. I bought this on Saturday from Alfie’s Antique Market in West London (nearest tube Edgeware Road). The market has rather a lot of real antiques and quite a lot of furniture. There aren’t so many vintage clothes shops, but what there are is of high quality. Tucked away on the second floor is Napthalene Textiles (Stands S040 – S043) run by friends June and Carole. My kind of place, it is overflowing with vintage fabric, scarves, tapestries, clothes, buttons, haberdashery and on the bottom shelf I found sewing and knitting patterns. For the blog there are 7 mini-pattern leaflets in fantastic condition.
This one maybe for a 34 inch bust or that might be the finished meaurements. I’m pretty certain it’s from WW2 (and rationing brought down a lady’s measurements, hence the tiny sizes!).
It is made in 3 ply which isn’t a weight you see very often, but Susan Crawford has got you covered with her vintage shades of Fenella yarn (A unique 100% British wool, grown, spun, dyed and finished in Britain. A 2 ply yarn that knits up to that elusive vintage ‘3 ply’ tension.) Incidentally I haven’t been paid for this plug, but I have met Susan and she’s lovely.
