Lady’s Panel Front Jumper from 1928 – Leach’s Six Penny Knitting Series Issue 104

Year – 1928, published in Leach’s Six Penny Knitting Series Issue 104 which is subtitled Jumper-Suits, Jumpers and Cardigans.

Size -Width around under arms is 38 inch bust, but it is supposed to be baggy, or “have positive ease” as modern knitters call it. I suggest it is intended for 34 to 36 inch bust

Yarn Size – 3 ply

  1. I love that it’s in blue, gray, and orange! I love blue and orange together. Regarding the bust size, it says in the the callout on the first page of the pattern that it’s for a 33-36″ bust.

  2. freetoairphoenix – Free to air broadcasting is the greatest most wonderful thing in the world. All you need to do is switch to the "On" position and you're ready to receive! Radio and television has always been a passion of mine, ever since I was a small child and my (much bigger) siblings would send ME upstairs to fiddle with the TV antenna so they could get the picture in better. I thought I was chosen for the task on account of my know-how, but they just didn't want to do the chore :) I live in Phoenix Arizona USA now, and do not like our summers. If you like hot weather, move here. It has gotten up to 114F/45C last summer!

The “modern” design on front panel is remarkable. I find it much more aesthetically pleasing than the rounded, overly simplistic designs of today. It’s odd how we have everything mechanized, instant, so we have more free time, yet even in design it has reverted to the most simple and basic of patterns.
